1 Peter 4:10-11
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.”

Camp Director
Beth Farmer
Beth Farmer, a native of North Carolina, is the daughter of Anne Farmer and the late Reverend Douglas Farmer, who, along with Beth and her two brothers, Mark and Jeff, founded Camp Shenandoah Springs. Beth gave her heart to Jesus Christ in 1967 and was baptized, with her life dedicated to following God’s call.
With over 43 years of experience in Christian camping, Beth has served in many roles, including program director, worship leader, keynote speaker, and producer for Christian musical productions. She has provided music for weddings, celebrations of life, and revivals. Beth is also certified in K-3 education and has worked in both general and special education. She served as a Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) huddle leader at South Stanly High School and Albemarle High School.
In addition to her educational work, Beth kept her lifeguarding certification from age 17 to 48 and went on to become a certified waterfront lifeguard instructor. She also holds a certification in restaurant management and loves to serve. Since 1984, Beth has been a Bible study teacher and has developed a unique horse-and-rider instruction style that parallels one’s walk with the Lord.
Beth is passionate about sharing the love of Christ with children of all ages. She delights in the laughter of children and the joy parents feel when they see their kids experience camp at “The Springs.” Her ultimate desire is to love like Christ and ensure that the legacy of Christian camping continues for future generations at Camp Shenandoah Springs, where Springs of Living Water flow!

Camp Director
Jesse & Kassia Owens
Jesse and Kassia Owens have four children (Zebedee, Miridia, Ke’koa, and Azariah) and live in Spotsylvania Virginia where Jesse works as a high school math teacher and Kassia homeschools the children and tends to their homestead. Collectively, Jesse and Kassia have shared the hope of Jesus Christ and trained youth missionaries through camp ministry in Navajo Nation New Mexico, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Maine, West Virginia, and throughout Virginia for over 20 years.
Jesse holds a Masters of Divinity from Liberty University, a Bachelors in Finance from George Mason, and two Associates from Germanna Community College in General Education and Business Administration. Additionally, Jesse coaches basketball and volleyball for Victory, a Christian homeschool athletic association. Kassia is an accomplished Scottish Irish dancer and has served numerous colleges as a professor of nursing. Her calling to the field of health and medicine originated while observing the dire need for medical professionals while serving children overseas.
Camp Shenandoah Springs is special to the Owens family for many reasons. CSS is where God called Jesse into full-time pastoral ministry, the location of his first sermon, first camp, first time sharing the Gospel, and first time seeing a teenager respond to Christ’s calling. Additionally, Jesse and Kassia have watched the Lord minister to their children in powerful ways on this campus….not to mention CSS is where Azariah took his first steps.
Jesse & Kassia are committed to serving CSS and the surrounding communities with the hope and encouragement of the Gospel by continuously surrendering the programing of CSS to the Lord’s will.
